meteorologist, wyatt everhart, we are all over hurricane sandy as we track the movement up the coast. be sure to download the weather app to track sandy at all hours of the day. if you end up losing power, monday and tuesday, you will have the mobile app, available. let's look, at the overall situation, sandy is with a intense core, the radar returns on this are significant off the flida coast. a large system, we are watching where sandy heads from here and how much we will see strengthen in to the sunday, monday and tuesday time frame. winds 75 miles per hour, movement north at 6. over 700 miles, down the coast, from ocean city, speaking of ocean city, we will get those in a second. speaking of the storm, it continues to pull big time showers and storms and high winds. this is 2-300 miles off of the florida coast, having an impact there. locally, as we look at the beach here, this is still a quiet time before sandy arrives, she begins to move in towards sunday. getting outer cloud bands from sandy. that gives you an idea of the size and breath of the storm as the reaches from outer

wyatt everhart. >> we're doing our best to keep you safe in this massive unprecedented hybrid storm that is unlike any we've ever seen. lowest central pressure, north of carolina. the largest in terms of the size and distance of these gale force winds. finding strengthening. sandy has been encountering warm bands. that has aloud it to churn into new jersey, churning into delaware. super storm sandy in 3d. here's a look right at 5:30. you see the large structure. massive storm with the center, the real intense portion pushing in with all ofs it might into the delaware bay, delaware, all of m. under the -- of maryland, under the gun. it's an unbelievable situation. some of the wind gusts right now. we've got gusts of 74. gusting to 60 in catonsville. we're bang it approach -- beginning to approach around baltimore. we will probably get hurricane force winds. potential of 70 miles an hour, sustained winds in the bay. over five inches in galena. six inches in columbia. the storm is beginning to come. we're beginning to get the most intense part of the storm. we'll see very intense hurricane

. let's check in with meteorologist wyatt everhart with your first forecast and your komen forecast. >> not as warm as today for komen sunday but not frigid by october standards. first maryland's most powerful radar. we're tracking showers with a few lightning strikes, six in the last 20 minutes. there's a thunder shower moving toward reisterstown and 795. the leading edge of this shower complex does have a little bit of embed thunder and lightning. we'll keep an eye on that. it's all being fueled. it's one last band being fueled by this broad circulation. this swirl in the atmosphere will help push cooler air in for the weekend. so temperatures will be dropping but for this evening low 70s to upper 60s. we'll talk about how things will change by komen race day morning in minutes. >> all right. thank you. the case is cold but tonight a family is offering 10,000 reasons for someone to help identify their son's killer. >> as jeff hager tells us tonight, detectives rereleased surveillance photos to help jog your memory. >> police are hoping to turn back the clock where these surveillan

meteorologist wyatt everhart. havre de grace spared, a lot of us spared. phelps point having to go to higher ground. >> then the flooding question will be out have there. we were spared. we projected that the north, north wind would push the water out of the bay, prevent isabelle style flooding, so we're thankful for that. there's nothing like what we saw. take a check of the setup. isabelle -- i'm getting mixed up. isabelle is long gone. sandy having a slight impact. you have to look carefully but if you look carefully north of cumberland right near in south central pennsylvania that is the center of what's left of sandy which, we have post reports, it's going to be all over the place. we think more of a hurricane than a nor'easter, but it still was a hybrid type cyclone but it sure did die downwind wise. this looks more like a nor'easter and that is the mixed type of prescription we're seeing. heavy snow still in the appalachians, including garrett county, which was up to 26 inches of snow. look at this locally, cold air. so we'll hav much more on sandy straight ahead. >> a lot g

meteorologist wyatt everhart. >>> sandy continue times act the state with snow to the west, rain showers and mixed snow showers across northern parts of central maryland. we've got pretty big waves there. 's the broad circulation. you can see that the rain/snow mix is a reality for parts of the state. it's showing a little bit of a changeover. the cold air is aloft. of course, sandy is wrapping in a lot of cold air on the back side of the storm. that's why we have snow coming down in garrett county, reports of over 20 inches of snow. some isolated reports could get to three feet. in ocean city we can still see that pier missing. we'll be posting a video on my abc2 facebook page. you'll see toward day break the pier breaks away. you'll see the time lapse video coming up very shortly online. check out the abc2 twitter and you'll see it there. showers, mixed showers. there will ab few flakes, 30s and cold. we'll have much more on sandy's impact coming up. >>> those who are living along the bush river, winters run. >> he's checking out the damage. there you've been out there all day long, rosy.

drink? we'll introduce you to an app. >>> i'm abc2 meteorologist wyatt everhart. this is fantastic. we have several more days to enjoy the sunshine. take a look we think there could be changes by early next week, even starting sunday. dundalk sunshine. fall foilage. fall colors still in effect. how about in baltimore today where skies were at times a little overcast. we did get a good bet of sunshine. after 11, 12, the temperatures surge north and up into the mid-70s. as we check ot the current conditions, 74 at bwi. humidity coming up on the southeasterly breeze. that south wind will make an impact. we'll have a shot at 80 degrees before we drop in the low to mid-70s. low to mid-70s is where we sit. 77 in easton. upper 60s at the beach. not so bad. the festival coming up down toward the delaware beaches. a couple showers but the main weather system has been a weather maker for states to our north, new york, pennsylvania and back to new england. they'll get the rain. the rest of the evening, it stays to our north. we're dry and looking good. high pressure dominates sitting over the

become a super storm. leading us off is our meteorologist wyatt everhart. >>> large powerful hurricane, bottom line, now a category two storm. that update coming up as we speak from the national hurricane center. you see the distance. we take it from jacksonville, florida, to the lesser antilles. hurricane sandy packing winds of 105 miles an hour. how over the bahamas. she has cleared the mountain. some additional strengthening not out of the question. this is still a large powerful storm and all maryland del projections have trended this thing further west manying -- meaning the impacts could be felt. where in this swath the storm will come in is a key factor. if it's close are to virginia, a much bigger impact. if she tracks further north, jobs up toward long island, higher impacts for new england. either way, we'll sew a lot of wind, a lot of rain. we have more coming up. >>> the city of baltimore has taken steps. there are several things you can do. first, they say make sure you have a battery powered radio, flashlights and enough water to last three days. make sure to cl

show you how large wyatt everhart was talking 1200 miles in, what the set is up, here is storm, it's going to go towards the north, the guidance has been spot on for that. then the question is when does it ma tick hook in to the coastal sections? is it over new jersey, atlantic city, or over the delaware bay, or is it as far south as ocean city. that is a question we will answer over the next 36-72 hours. a couple of track potentials. this is really the worse case scenarios it has guidance supporting it. sunday through tuesday, winds starting to pick up, 30-40, sustapped at 45, gusts at 55. rain potential is high, 3-5 inches coastal flooding. snow potential, monday afternoon, we could talk about blizzard-like conditions. towards the west, higher elevations. look at track scenario two, towards the north, feeling an impact. 35 miles per hour winds gusting to 45. rain potential there at 2-4 inches. the wind potential, we are forecasting, a high impact storm, with the potential of massive pouter outages, winds 35-45 miles per hour. sustained starting monday afternoon, in to wednesday. st

wyatt everhart. >> we could see some wet roads. no question about that. it will be wet and foggy, so maybe not the best travels through the overnight hours. some showers over the eastern shore. baltimore itself clearing out. that's good news for commuters but in the lower eastern shore extending through southern maryland still some rain in this direction. as we take a look at the bigger perspective, we can see the clouds hanging tough. while most of the rain came through the day, those showers are offshore. but the large storm system is yet to completely move through the area. we'll keep it in the 60s, still some scattered showers, watching for fog to develop. we'll talk about when the whole system moves out and we see a change in the forecast. that's coming up. >>> here's our big story at 5:00. three women were abducted, two sexually assaulted. police think it may be the same suspect. abc2 news investigator brian kuebler joins us with how this happened. >> reporter: police say they have arrested the two suspects in the case and are looking to pin two sexual assaults on them but

how long is it going to ask. wyatt everhart joins us now. >> kelly, i tell you, the weather overall is beautiful this evening. the rain system to our north continuing to bring the rain through parts of new england and up state new york. however, further south we're watching tropical storm sandy looking a little better organized here in the central caribbean sea. the future track of this brings ut up offshore florida over cuba before we think it will make a turn out to sea but there are still questions with the final track of sandy. we'll have more on that coming up. much more coming up. >> wyatt, all new tonight at 11:00 schools are taking steps to make sure students are safe after a threat was found on campus today. officials say it was the second threat in two weeks. they don't believe it was credible but they are taking measures just in case. >> man traffic dime a stop. a tainger was leaking propane right before crossing the bay bridge. >> jamie, traffic is moving, the danger is cleaned up and the people that cross the bridge daily are feeling the pains of connecting the eastern

masco and meteorologist wyatt everhart. >>> let's get to that first weather update. i tell you, hurricane sandy still a monster, monster storm. we're waiting for the fresh 5 p.m. update. we can see the storm clearly coming ashore southern new jersey. it's making landfall over the next hour or so. it's going to cross over central kept county delaware and come across through cease -- cease -- cecil, given the current movement of the storm. you see the size and scope of sandy, coming ashore at the southern tip of new jersey, basically rung up the delaware bay which may give it more time to maintain full strength, a little bit of additional water. now the huge storm surge we still anticipate being up here, central northern new jersey through the new england states and new york. again, we will have some of the worst rain and probably the worst rain in delaware and maryland. we will be the two hardest hit states. the eyewall coming in right now right here on the southern tip of jersey. it's beginning to push in over the next throw six hours. really over the next three to four hours e

massachusetts has been recalled. >>> meteorologist wyatt everhart is here, a beautiful sunny day. this is about as good as it gets in late october. the air is, extremely dry, dew point is down 39, so comfortable. sun sets and 6:17. things continuing to get shorter. what a day it was. fall color breaking out, peaking and going past peak. havre de grace some red hues on the horizon both in harford and across the river in sealsle county -- cecil county. what's not to like. temperatures around 70. we've got a west breeze, a cool breeze tonight. temperatures will drop off. we'll end up in the 40s and spots north and west tonight. it will be cool at daybreak but the map overall lending itself to a warm scenario. the next few days we'll keep the sunshine around, perhaps getting cloudy with a system diving over new england but i think we'll stay dry. temperatures will be warmer as winds slowly turn southern. this is a look at the setup. we'll be close to air in the mid-70s. we should get into the low 70s at least tomorrow despite the cloud cover. tomorrow night we're not mid-50s. warming up as we go in

wyatt everhart with a look at sandy. >>> all right. let's give you the full breakdown on hurricane sandy, still a powerful border line category 2 hurricane. we knew we would maintain strength and perhaps see intensification with the storm. we were a little surprised when we saw this ramp up to 90 miles per hour and prsh down -- pressure down to 940. this puts it at a category two. this unusual super storm. it has in the just taken that hard turn into the states like agnes did, farther north, but the fact this has been strengthening as it comes ashore. we are used to seeing hurricanes weaken as we enter the northern waters, especially am late october. in this situation we have a warm section courtesy of the gulf stream current. we've had almost no shear. unbelievable. winds now sustained near 50. crisfield with reports of significant damage and flooding here at the mouth of the chesapeake. winds have been hard northwest. that, for the first day will help to drain the chesapeake. by tomorrow sandy will reposition. we could see winds turning south, southwesterly. we have high tide cir

mess. let's check in with wyatt everhart with a look at the all important first forecast tonight. >> it was all about the rain today. sometimes too much. now we have the fog developing out there. something you want to factor into your morning travel plans. right now we have just a half mile of visibility being reported at bwi. one third of mile where there have been socked in in the dulles area with fog. this is one foggy scenario. not so much east of the chesapeake, but west of the bay the fog is getting thick and heavy. we have seen the showers diminishing through the night. picking up more than an inch of rain in some spots today. still a huge surge of moisture coming in out of the south and this is going to continue to bring the chance of rain and fog into your morning commute. look for 69 degrees and patchy dense fog. >>> police first told us that a man died from swallowing drugs. >> now a medical examiner's report says it's murder. >> jamie and kelly the report lists injuries to his ribs and spleen. three baltimore city officers are now on paid leave. >> reporter: following
